History
Formed to build the Bristol-Bath cycle-path in 1978. Registered as charity in 1984. Built 300 miles of traffic free paths before starting on the National Cycle Network.
Objectives
To promote sustainable transport, primarily through the implementation of the 8,000 mile National Cycle Network, to be completed by 2005: a £400m project of safe, high quality signed routes which will run within 2 miles of 20 million people in the UK. To develop and promote Safe Routes to schools.
