Cancer patient back in the saddle

KEN Brewer, champion time triallist now 75 years of age, gave up all hope of ever getting back in the saddle last September after receiving treatment for bladder cancer.

Devoted to cycling, Ken was fraught with frustration after realising that no matter what saddle or padded covers he used, the pain when cycling was agonising, so much so that he was starting to get blood in his urine.

It was only when the Hainault Road Club's veteran star picked up his weekly copy of CW and read about British designer John Kenney's new Rido saddle that his cycling setback was resolved.

Designed to reduce the pressure on the perineum without having any padding or upholstery, Ken bought one staright away.

"The morning I received the Rido saddle I put it straight on my bike and rode 25 miles! There was no pain or discomfort whatsoever; it's fantastic," Brewer said.

He is a thorough record keeper, and has covered a grand total of 138,105 miles since 1987. He may not be able to cycle up the hills in his home town of Clacton like he used to, but the flat roads of East Sussex suit him just fine as he continues to eat up the miles, doing anything up to 30 miles at a time, several days a week.

The Rido saddle is now available in three colour combinations by mail order from John Kenney's company, Stampede Product Marketing. All are priced at £9.99* plus £3 P&P. Tel: 01394 450745 0r visit www.rido-cyclesaddles.com.
